In the quiet town of Crossville, Tennessee, the life of 21-year-old Kelsey Nicole Brady, a female with a promising future, was tragically cut short on the morning of January 14, 2017. The events of that day unfolded within the seemingly ordinary confines of a home on Old Mail Road, where an altercation between two men would have unforeseen and devastating consequences.
Inside the residence, a dispute escalated, leading one of the men, Michael Dale, to discharge a shotgun.
The shotgun blast, fired in the heat of the moment, tore through an interior wall of the house. In an adjacent room, unaware of the conflict that had just erupted, was Kelsey Brady. The projectiles from the shotgun shell perforated the wall, striking and fatally wounding the young woman. Her death was not the result of a direct confrontation but a senseless act of violence that claimed an innocent bystander.
The Crossville Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation launched a joint investigation into the shooting. Their inquiries quickly led them to Michael Dale. The investigation revealed that the altercation and subsequent firing of the weapon were the direct cause of Kelsey Brady's death. Dale was taken into custody and faced a series of serious charges, including one count of aggravated assault resulting in death, one count of reckless homicide, and one count of aggravated assault. He was subsequently booked into the Cumberland County Justice Center.
