In a tragic turn of events on a February night in 2017, a dispute inside an East Nashville home spilled outside and ended a life. Dhahron Page, a 26-year-old Black man, was fatally shot on February 26, 2017, following a heated altercation. The argument reportedly began at a gathering inside Page's residence and escalated, continuing out into the open.
The conflict allegedly ignited when Page slapped the girlfriend of 25-year-old Jason Stanley.
At one point, Page is said to have grabbed a gun, though he reportedly put it away. As Stanley and his girlfriend were trying to leave the residence, the argument flared up again. It was then that Stanley allegedly shot Page in the upper torso and neck area with a. 22 caliber Derringer.
Emergency services transported Page to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead. Following an investigation into the shooting, Metro Nashville Police arrested Jason Stanley and charged him with criminal homicide.
During the investigation, Stanley claimed that he acted in self-defense. He told authorities that Page had opened his car door and was reaching for him, which prompted him to fire the weapon. Stanley was subsequently booked into the Davidson County Jail, with his bond set at $100,000.
