In the early morning hours of April 9, 2017, the life of 20-year-old Kendre Allen, a Black male, was tragically cut short in a drive-by shooting in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. in the 5500 block of Brainerd Road, a normally busy thoroughfare that was cloaked in the quiet of the pre-dawn hours. Allen was struck by gunfire and succumbed to his injuries at the scene, leaving a community to grapple with the sudden and violent loss of a young life.
