On August 10, 2018, at approximately 6:45 p.m., the Memphis Police Department's Tillman Street precinct received a call reporting a shooting in the 2400 block of Carnes Avenue, just east of Airways Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered Christopher Brown Finley, a 32-year-old African American male, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite prompt medical attention, Mr. Finley succumbed to his injuries.
