In Memphis, Tennessee, the year 2019 was marked by the separate and tragic deaths of two men, both named Marcus Brooks. The first of these incidents occurred on the evening of April 25th. This Marcus Brooks, a 39-year-old Black male, was known to use a wheelchair. On that Thursday evening, he was in the 2300 block of Pendleton Street when gunfire erupted.
