In the spring of 2023, a young Black man named Donkevion Jones, aged 20, was fatally shot in Memphis, Tennessee, in what authorities have described as a targeted attack. On the evening of April 22, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Jones was sitting in his vehicle near the intersection of Egypt Central and Raleigh Millington. Another car reportedly pulled up behind his, and an occupant of that vehicle got out and fired multiple shots into Jones's car.
The shooting resulted in Jones's death at
the scene. The Memphis Police Department promptly launched a homicide investigation.
