In the summer of 2019, the life of 25-year-old Daicori Saunders, a Black/African American male, was cut short in a fatal shooting in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. On the night of June 21st, police responded to a disturbance call at an apartment complex on Manor Street. Shortly after, Saunders was discovered lying on the ground in the 1300 block of Eagle Street, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
The Murfreesboro Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation, and within days, they identified their first suspect, 22-year-old Quandre Knowles. A warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of first-degree murder. As the investigation progressed, a second suspect, 29-year-old Delarrious Dewayne Crawford, was also identified, and a murder warrant was issued for him as well. Both men were considered armed and dangerous, prompting a multi-agency search.
Quandre Knowles was apprehended in August 2019 in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Delarrious Crawford, however, managed to evade capture for nearly a year. He was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's Most Wanted list, with a reward offered for information leading to his arrest. The manhunt for Crawford concluded in June 2020 when U.S. Marshals located and arrested him in Moss Point, Mississippi. In addition to the first-degree murder charge, it was revealed that Crawford also faced a charge of attempted first-degree murder. Both men were taken into custody to face legal proceedings for their alleged roles in the death of Daicori Saunders.
