In the late afternoon of Sunday, April 12, 2020, a dispute between two men escalated into a fatal encounter on a North Nashville street. Juwan Radley, a 26-year-old Black male, was shot on 17th Avenue North near Dr. DB Todd Jr. Boulevard. Following the gunfire, at least two individuals were seen fleeing the area. Radley was privately transported to Nashville General Hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and died.
The investigation into Radley's death was undertaken by
North Precinct detectives of the Metro Nashville Police Department. Their efforts led them to identify Brandon Young, also 26 years old, as the alleged shooter. According to the investigation, the shooting occurred after an argument between Radley and Young. While the initial motive was still under investigation, authorities moved forward with their case against the identified suspect.
Months after the shooting, on December 17, 2020, Brandon Young was arrested. A grand jury handed down an indictment charging him with first-degree murder for the death of Juwan Radley. The arrest marked a significant development in the case, bringing the investigation to a point of legal resolution as the matter proceeded to the courts.
