In the early morning hours of May 17, 2020, the quiet of a Murfreesboro, Tennessee neighborhood was broken by the sound of gunshots. Responding to a call about an unresponsive person around 5 a.m., police arrived at a duplex on East Northfield Boulevard to make a grim discovery. Behind the residence, they found the body of Thomas “Tommy” Joseph Holland, a 45-year-old Caucasian man.
He had been shot three times.
Investigators believe that Holland may have been involved in an altercation before the fatal shooting, based on evidence found at the scene. Despite neighbors hearing the gunshots that echoed through the early morning, no one reported seeing anyone fleeing the area, leaving detectives with few initial leads.
