On October 25, 2017, Thomas Pickert, a 39-year-old Kansas City attorney, was shot and killed in front of his home in the Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri. The incident occurred shortly after Pickert had returned from walking his two young children to school. Witnesses reported seeing a white van fleeing the scene, which was later linked to David Jungerman, a local businessman who was ultimately found guilty of the crime.
