In the early morning hours of Monday, September 29, 2025, police responded to reports of a shooting on Kansas City's East Side. Just before 2 a.m., officers were directed to a grassy area in the 1600 block of Drury Avenue, in the West Blue Valley neighborhood, where they found a man unresponsive. The man, who was suffering from unspecified trauma, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
The victim was later identified as 39-year-old Brandon Stone, a
White/Caucasian male. His death is being investigated as a homicide, and at the time, it was the 121st homicide in Kansas City for the year. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators began processing the scene, collecting evidence and speaking with potential witnesses to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting.
As of late September 2025, no arrests had been made in connection with Stone's death, and police had not publicly identified any suspects or persons of interest. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the case to contact the TIPS Hotline, offering a substantial reward for information that leads to an arrest.
