In the quiet hours before dawn on Monday, September 29, 2025, police were called to the 1600 block of Drury Avenue on Kansas City’s East Side after reports of a shooting. People at the scene flagged down officers around 1:45 a.m., directing them to a grassy area near the intersection by 16th Street. There, officers found a man lying unresponsive, suffering from unknown bodily trauma, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
