Michael 'Mike' Gray Grant, a 72-year-old male, was fatally shot in Winchester, Tennessee on May 6, 2021. The incident occurred around 11:13 a.m. at the Speedy Self Storage on South College Street. Grant was reportedly sitting in the cab of his 18-wheeler when the shooting took place. He frequently parked his truck at the storage facility.
Following the shooting, his son, 52-year-old Michael Edwin Grant, became the sole suspect. It is reported that the two men had been engaged in an argument prior to the shooting. After the incident, the younger Grant allegedly drove to his mother's house and confessed to the killing. His mother then contacted the police, informing them of her son's confession and his intention to turn himself in. However, law enforcement officers apprehended him while he was on his way to the police station. Michael Edwin Grant was arrested and charged with criminal homicide and was subsequently booked into the Franklin County Jail.
The legal proceedings against Michael Edwin Grant did not reach a conclusion in court. On November 29, 2022, at the age of 54, Michael Edwin Grant passed away at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. His death occurred before any trial or conviction in the case of his father's death.
