On a September day in Winchester, Tennessee, the life of 36-year-old Quentin Nathaniel Stacy was tragically cut short. On September 12, 2022, the United States Army veteran was fatally shot outside a residence on Norwood Creek Road. Stacy, a father and husband, was remembered for his heart of gold and a contagious smile that reflected a perpetually happy disposition. He was an employee of Coca-Cola Bottling in Tullahoma and an avid outdoorsman who found joy in fishing and camping.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect, 57-year-old Steven 'Petey' Henley. A multi-county manhunt was launched to find Henley, who was considered armed and dangerous. The search involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Franklin County Sheriff's Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Henley was eventually located and taken into custody in a garage off of England Street in the town of Cowan.
Subsequent investigations revealed a troubled history leading up to the fatal shooting. Henley was reportedly the boyfriend of Quentin Stacy's mother, and both men lived on the same property, which housed three separate residences. An order of protection had been issued against Henley, which he had allegedly violated twice in the weeks leading up to the incident, resulting in his arrest on both occasions. Henley had a criminal history that dated back to 2001, including previous charges of aggravated assault. The motive for the shooting appeared to stem from ongoing domestic issues.
