In the summer of 2021, the life of Travis Derane Cole, a 40-year-old Black male from Memphis, Tennessee, was tragically cut short. On the morning of July 21st, his body was discovered in the driver's seat of his car at a Parkway Village motel. The cause of his untimely death was determined to be a single gunshot wound to the neck. The discovery sent ripples of shock and grief through his community, leaving family and friends to mourn the sudden and violent loss.
The investigation into
the death of Travis Cole led police to review surveillance footage from the parking lot of the Home 1 Extended Stay, the scene of the crime. This critical piece of evidence pointed them toward a suspect. Not long after, authorities arrested Ashley Eugene Hervery, a 39-year-old man from the Whitehaven area of Memphis. The investigation revealed that the shooting had occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on the day Cole's body was found.
Following his arrest, Hervery provided a statement to the police and revealed the location of the firearm used in the incident.
