On July 22, 2021, in Memphis, Tennessee, 27-year-old Dewyanne Reed, an African American male, was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Dollar Tree store located at South Third and Belz. According to witnesses, Reed had allegedly shoplifted approximately five dollars' worth of party supplies from the store.
