In the summer heat of Memphis, Tennessee, on July 15, 2023, the life of 14-year-old LaQuincy Demontaye Martin Jr. was tragically cut short. The young man, known for his love of basketball, video games, and swimming, was near a pool in the Hickory Hill neighborhood, in the 3400 block of Wild Rye Lane, when a confrontation escalated into deadly violence. During the dispute, a male suspect armed with an AR-style firearm opened fire, striking LaQuincy.
