Matthew Scott Jr., a 35-year-old African American man from Knoxville, Tennessee, tragically died on July 23, 2021. He was found unresponsive next to the road on Riverside Drive and was later pronounced dead at the scene after suffering from a gunshot wound. The University of Tennessee Police Officers were conducting a property check when they discovered Scott. His death is one of the many unsolved murders in Knoxville, with the investigation still ongoing.
