In the late hours of a Friday night in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 39-year-old Cecil R. Holmes Jr. was brought to a tragic and violent end. On August 27, 2021, Holmes was in the parking lot of the Edgehill Homes on 11th Avenue South when he was approached by a gunman. Without warning, multiple shots were fired, and Holmes was left fatally wounded, dying at the scene.
The assailant then fled, disappearing into the night.
The Metro Nashville Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation. Detectives pursued various leads, and their investigation eventually pointed to a single suspect: Tyrone Walker. In April 2023, a grand jury indicted Walker on charges of first-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the death of Cecil Holmes Jr. However, Walker was nowhere to be found, prompting law enforcement to seek public assistance in locating him. He was subsequently added to the police department's 'Top 10 Most Wanted' list.
For over a year, Tyrone Walker remained a fugitive. Then, in August 2024, a breakthrough came. Acting on intelligence, detectives located Walker in a vehicle in the Edgehill area. A pursuit ensued, with officers successfully deploying spike strips to disable the SUV he was in. Walker attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by detectives in a nearby field. At the time of his arrest, he was found to be in possession of a firearm and drugs. Walker, who had previous convictions for aggravated burglary, felony theft, and felony cocaine possession, was taken into custody to face the charges for the murder of Cecil R. Holmes Jr. He is being held without bond as he awaits further legal proceedings.
