In a tragic turn of events, 20-year-old Andree Vidal lost his life in a fatal shooting on September 2, 2021, in Nashville, Tennessee. The young man, who worked in construction and landscaping, was discovered inside a stolen Toyota Camry in an alley behind the 1500 block of 9th Avenue North. He had sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries the following day.
The investigation into the death of Andree, a
resident of Chapel Hill, led authorities to suspect a drug-related motive behind the violent act. Friends and family remembered him as someone who enjoyed listening to music and spending time with his friends. He was born on February 4, 2001, in McMinnville, Tennessee, to his father Jesus Vidal and step-mother Jennifer Sharp Vidal.
After a thorough investigation by the Metro Nashville Police Department's Homicide Unit, a suspect was identified in connection with the murder. Rontarius Summers, 21 years old at the time of his arrest, was indicted on a charge of first-degree murder. The investigative team had been searching for Summers for two months before apprehending him in April 2022.
During the arrest at a residence on Emerald Bay Boulevard, authorities seized a significant amount of marijuana, a shotgun, and two pistols, one of which had been reported stolen. Prior to the murder indictment, Summers had been arrested in November 2021 on unrelated felony marijuana and gun charges, for which he had posted bond. Following his arrest for the murder of Andree Vidal, a Criminal Court judge ordered that Summers be held without bond.
