In the early morning hours of April 24, 2022, Vincent LaSane Jr., a 33-year-old African American male, was fatally shot in Memphis, Tennessee. He was working as a security guard at Club Memphis in the Orange Mound neighborhood at the time of the incident.
Earlier in the evening, a group of individuals had been escorted out of the club. These individuals later returned and, at approximately 4:20 a.m., opened fire on the security guards as they were leaving the club. LaSane Jr.
was struck by the gunfire and tragically lost his life.
The investigation into the shooting led police to identify Donyale Lee as one of the suspects. Witnesses reported that Lee had made threats to shoot up the club and harm the security guards before leaving the premises. Surveillance footage from the scene reportedly showed Lee and others firing shots at the club from a vehicle. Following an investigation, Donyale Lee was arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder. While an arrest has been made, authorities have indicated that the investigation remains ongoing as they continue to search for other potential suspects involved in the shooting.
Vincent LaSane Jr.'s family remembered him as a dedicated father who was always smiling. His father, Vincent LaSane Sr., shared that his son had recently made positive changes in his life and was enthusiastic about his new job as a security guard. The family expressed their gratitude to the Memphis police for the swiftness of the arrest and have appealed to the public for any further information that could lead to justice for their loved one.
