On a summer evening in Memphis, Tennessee, the life of 24-year-old Adrian Ivory Jr. was tragically cut short. On July 12, 2017, Ivory, a Black male, found himself in a fatal confrontation during an attempted armed robbery in South Memphis. The incident unfolded in the 1200 block of East McLemore Avenue, a situation that would ultimately leave two men shot and one deceased.
According to witness accounts, an individual attempted to rob Ivory, leading to an altercation.
In the ensuing struggle, both Ivory and the alleged robber sustained gunshot wounds. Tragically, Adrian Ivory Jr. did not survive his injuries. The suspect, however, was also hit by gunfire and was subsequently hospitalized.
Following the incident, the wounded suspect was taken into custody by law enforcement. While hospitalized for the gunshot wound he sustained during the attempted robbery, he was officially charged in connection with the deadly event. News reports at the time identified the man charged in the fatal Memphis robbery, bringing a swift, though somber, development to the case.
