On May 20, 2022, Alex Erik Miller, a 42-year-old truck driver from Edgewood, Maryland, was fatally shot in Kingsport, Tennessee. The incident occurred on Interstate 81 near Exit 63 when Miller's tractor-trailer came into contact with another tractor-trailer driven by a 34-year-old man whose identity has not been disclosed by the police. After pulling over to the side of the road, the situation escalated, leading to Miller being shot by the other driver.
