In the early morning hours of July 25, 2022, a sense of normalcy was shattered in Humboldt, Tennessee, when violence claimed the life of 44-year-old Alfrantuan Joe Jones, a Black male also known as Lamorris Alfrantuan Jones. The incident unfolded around 1:34 a.m. when officers from the Humboldt Police Department were dispatched to the 4700 block of Main Street.
They were responding to a report of a vehicle being fired upon, a chaotic scene that ended with the car in a ditch.
Upon their arrival, the grim reality of the situation became apparent. Inside the vehicle were three individuals, two of whom had sustained injuries. Mr. Jones was one of the injured, and he was quickly transported to a hospital in Jackson for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, his injuries proved to be fatal. A second man, aged 35, received treatment for his injuries and was subsequently released. A third individual who was also in the vehicle at the time of the shooting was fortunate to escape without any physical harm.
The investigation into the death of Alfrantuan Joe Jones was immediately launched, with the Humboldt Police Department and the Madison County Sheriff's Department joining forces to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that might shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident and help identify those responsible.
