Dr. Yvonne Nelson, a 60-year-old African American woman and community activist from Memphis, TN, was tragically shot and killed on August 13, 2022, in the 5100 block of Yale Road. Dr. Nelson was well-known for her philanthropic work and dedication to the Whitehaven community, where she served as president of the Whitehaven Community Development for 25 years and was a commissioner with the Memphis City Beautiful Commission.
