Thomas Bonner, a 43-year-old Black man, was waiting on Union Avenue on the evening of October 8th when a verbal dispute erupted. What began as an exchange of words with a stranger quickly and senselessly escalated into fatal violence. The argument took a deadly turn when a man exited a silver Honda and fired a gun multiple times, striking Bonner.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, his life stolen in a moment of aggression.

Not long after the incident, authorities arrested 35-year-old Bobby Chism and 37-year-old Latorya Graham in connection with the killing. Chism was identified as the shooter and faced a charge of first-degree murder. Graham, who was allegedly driving the silver Honda, was charged with facilitation of first-degree murder and accessory after the fact, accused of aiding in the commission of the crime and helping Chism flee the scene.
