In the autumn of 2022, the life of Sidney Stewart, a 42-year-old Black/African American man, was tragically cut short in Nashville, Tennessee. On the night of October 8th, Stewart was a passenger in a car stopped at the intersection of Cockrill Street and Dr. D.B. Todd Jr. Boulevard when another vehicle pulled up alongside them. A man exited the second car and opened fire, striking Stewart.
The female driver of the car Stewart was in, managed to drive away to a nearby parking lot and call for help. Stewart was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but he did not survive his injuries.
