On February 1, 1902, Mark W. Allen Jr., a 32-year-old police officer with the Chester City Police Department in Chester, Pennsylvania, was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance call near Third and Pusey Streets. Officer Allen was shot in the leg and head by the male suspect involved in the disturbance. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
