In the early winter of 1902, a pall of sorrow fell over the city of Chester, Pennsylvania, with the violent death of one of its own. Mark W. Allen, Jr., a 32-year-old male police officer, lost his life in the line of duty. On the first of February, Officer Allen was responding to a domestic disturbance, a call that too often carries unforeseen dangers for law enforcement.
