In a tragic turn of events on February 15, 2021, Rashad Sabree, a 20-year-old male, was shot and killed in Chester, Pennsylvania. The incident unfolded in an alley outside a home on East 22nd Street. Sabree was at the residence with a friend when they discovered that the friend's vehicle had been damaged, leading to an argument.
During the dispute, Sabree was shot. He managed to get back inside the house, stating that he had been shot.
Emergency services were called, and he was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. An investigation into the shooting was immediately launched by the Chester Police Department and the Delaware County District Attorney's Office.
The investigation quickly identified a suspect: Rashad Sabree's own father, Adolphus Dwayne Smith, who was 48 years old at the time. A search for Smith ensued, and he was arrested a week later in Upper Darby by detectives from the Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division and the Philadelphia Police Department.
Adolphus Dwayne Smith was charged with first- and third-degree murder, as well as possession of an instrument of a crime. Following his arrest, he was arraigned and denied bail. Smith was subsequently held at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility to await his preliminary hearing.
