In the early morning hours of December 23, 2017, the life of 18-year-old Julian Wesley Alexander DeShields was tragically cut short on Clover Lane in Chester, Pennsylvania. The young Black male was discovered lying in the middle of the street, having been shot multiple times in the back. Paramedics who arrived at the scene were unable to save him and pronounced him dead.
The Chester Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into DeShields' death, which marked the
city's 28th homicide of the year. In the days following the shooting, authorities announced they were seeking three juveniles who were identified as persons of interest in the case. The police expressed a desire to speak with these individuals in connection with the murder.
Despite the initial identification of persons of interest, information regarding any arrests or charges in the killing of Julian DeShields has not been made publicly available. The investigation into his death remains ongoing, leaving his family and community searching for answers and justice for the young life that was taken so violently.
