On an early August evening in Chester, Pennsylvania, the life of 32-year-old Leon L. Culbreath Jr. was tragically cut short. On August 3, 2022, he was fatally shot in the 2100 block of Edgmont Avenue, succumbing to the violence that erupted that day. The male victim's death set in motion a multi-state investigation to bring the person responsible to justice.
The investigation quickly zeroed in on a suspect, 26-year-old Dahmier Harmon.
Believing his girlfriend, 31-year-old Shameeka Thompson, had cooperated with law enforcement in the murder investigation, Harmon allegedly abducted her. This sparked a frantic search for the endangered woman. Fortunately, their ordeal came to an end in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where law enforcement located Harmon and Thompson. Harmon was taken into custody without incident, and Thompson was found unharmed. It was later clarified by authorities that Thompson was not the individual who had provided information to the police.
Following his arrest, Dahmier Harmon was slated for extradition back to Pennsylvania to face charges for the murder of Leon L. Culbreath Jr. In addition to the murder charge, authorities indicated that Harmon could also face further charges related to the abduction of his girlfriend. The Chester Police Department, along with other assisting law enforcement agencies, credited the public's help in the swift and safe resolution of the abduction and the apprehension of the murder suspect.
