John Hickman Babb, a 45-year-old Caucasian male, was a special policeman with the West Chester Borough Police Department in Pennsylvania. On December 31, 1909, he was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a 16-year-old boy inside the boy's home. The suspect had been issued a warrant for incorrigibility and had also attempted to murder his parents by putting broken glass in their food.
