David Allen Barr, a 37-year-old male police officer with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, tragically died on May 3, 1983. Officer Barr was accidentally shot and killed while at the Department range. A range instructor was checking the firearm of another officer when it inadvertently discharged, striking Officer Barr in the chest. He was immediately taken to Presbyterian University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
