On December 22, 1990, 33-year-old Darryl Patterson, a black man from Philadelphia, PA, was shot to death during a drug deal in an alley near Thomas Winn's home. Thomas Winn, aged 34, was also killed in the incident. Witnesses described the gunman as a thin, light-skinned black man about six feet tall, known in the neighborhood as Don Ray.
