Michael Douglas Beverly, a 36-year-old male of African American ethnicity, was a Corporal in the Chester City Police Department in Chester, Pennsylvania. On October 16, 2001, while on patrol near 10th and Ward Streets, he was shot and killed by two suspects. The incident occurred around 9:30 pm, and Beverly was fatally shot multiple times with a .44-caliber handgun.
