In the spring of 2014, the community of Chester, Pennsylvania, was shaken by the violent death of a local business owner. Derrick Andre Brown, a 38-year-old African American man, was fatally shot on April 5, 2014. He succumbed to his injuries the following day at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Brown was a well-regarded figure in his community, known as the owner and operator of Derrick's Unisex Salon.
