In February 2017, in the city of Chester, Pennsylvania, 37-year-old Justin Haywood, a male, was found shot multiple times inside his car. The discovery was made by police on the 900 block of McDowell Avenue. Haywood was quickly transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center for his injuries.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Justin Haywood died from his gunshot wounds at the hospital. His death was subsequently ruled a homicide by investigators.
The incident marked the fourth homicide in Chester that year, contributing to a concerning trend of violence in the community.
The investigation into Haywood's murder led authorities to identify Saleem Williams as a suspect. It is believed that an argument between Haywood and Williams escalated, resulting in the fatal shooting. A warrant was issued for Williams's arrest on charges of criminal homicide, first- and third-degree murder, and various firearms offenses. For a time, Williams was considered a fugitive from the law.
In March 2017, acting on a tip, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force located and apprehended Saleem Williams at a residence in Philadelphia. He was taken into custody without incident to face the charges related to the death of Justin Haywood.
