On the evening of May 31, 2015, Michael Collier, a 33-year-old African American man, was fatally shot in Chester, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred on the 200 block of Engle Street, outside his sister's home. Collier had just parked his car and exited the vehicle when he was ambushed by an assailant. His girlfriend, who was with him at the time, witnessed a man in a white T-shirt and shorts firing at Collier.
Chester Police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:46 p.m.
following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Collier bleeding profusely from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation that followed determined that Collier had been shot 15 times in a calculated and brutal attack.
The investigation led to the arrest of Vincent Clark, a resident of Chester. Witnesses reported seeing Clark running from the scene and later identified him as the shooter. The case against Clark was built on the strength of these witness testimonies. During the trial, a motive for the killing was revealed, suggesting it was related to a prior incident where Collier was implicated in the death of another individual.
In January 2019, a Delaware County Court jury found Vincent Clark guilty of first-degree murder and firearms charges in connection with Collier's death. Two months later, in March 2019, Clark, then 28, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He received an additional sentence of eight-and-a-half to 17 years for the firearms charges.
