In the small community of Junedale, Pennsylvania, the life of 44-year-old Denise M. “Dee Dee” Wilkinson was cut tragically short in what authorities have described as a murder-suicide. Inside the residence, Denise Wilkinson, a female, was found to have been shot to
death. Also in the home was her husband, William Wilkinson, 44, who was found with what investigators determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident left the tight-knit community in shock, as friends and neighbors struggled to comprehend the violent end to the couple's lives. The couple's young daughter was reportedly in the home at the time of the killings but was physically unharmed.
Those who knew the Wilkinsons remembered them as a couple who enjoyed riding motorcycles and were devoted parents. They were known for hosting large birthday parties for their daughter, inviting many people from the community. Denise was remembered for her ability to make people laugh and for always putting others first, with her role as a mother being a significant part of her life.
Court records indicated that William Wilkinson had a prior criminal record, including a 2012 charge for aggravated assault. He had pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of recklessly endangering another person and paid a fine. In the aftermath of the tragedy, the investigation concluded that William Wilkinson was the suspect in his wife's death before taking his own life. No other suspects were sought, and the case was closed with no arrests to be made.
