On January 1, 2024, Uniontown police discovered the body of 26-year-old Franyerlys Nicold "Nicole" Zambrano Briceno in her residence on Bierer Avenue. She had suffered a fatal gunshot wound and was believed to have been deceased for several days. Concerns arose when she failed to report to her housekeeping job at Nemacolin resort for three consecutive days, prompting coworkers to request a welfare check.
Investigators quickly identified her husband, 55-year-old Arthur Eugene Guty Jr., as the primary suspect. Neighbors described Guty as generally amicable but noted a jealous streak concerning his wife. One neighbor recalled Guty stating, "If I find out she’s messing around, I’ll kill her."
Authorities tracked Guty to Las Vegas, where he was apprehended at the Mardi Gras Hotel and Casino while having breakfast. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of approximately $100,000 in cash, leading officials to suspect he intended to flee the country. Guty faces charges of criminal homicide and aggravated assault in connection with his wife's death.
This case is further complicated by Guty's past; in 2019, his then-wife, Roxanne Guty, attempted to hire a hitman to kill him in exchange for half of his life insurance policy. She was subsequently arrested and sentenced on lesser charges. Authorities have stated that the two cases are not believed to be related.
