On July 26, 2014, five-year-old Cion Styles, a young African-American boy from Ridley Township, PA, tragically lost his life. The incident occurred when Cion's father, Tyrell Styles, shot him in the head and ankle before also shooting Cion's mother, Shyema Washington, four times. The shootings took place after Tyrell picked up Cion from a birthday party at his mother's sister's house.
