Scott Robins, a 42-year-old male of unspecified ethnicity, was tragically shot and killed on October 10, 2011, in Ridley Township, Pennsylvania. Robins had recently moved back into his childhood home with his wife Teresa and two stepchildren, Michael and Kristen Snow. He was working as a master mechanic for Metropolitan Fire and Sprinkler at the time of his death.
On the morning of the incident, Robins was shot multiple times with a .40 caliber Ruger as he was about to get into his car.
His co-worker, who was waiting in the car, managed to escape unharmed, but Robins' stepdaughter Kristen, who came outside upon hearing the shots, was critically injured but survived. Robins succumbed to his injuries a few hours later in the emergency room.
The shooter was identified as James Dellavecchia, a 74-year-old neighbor who had lived behind Robins' house since Robins' childhood. Dellavecchia had a history of disputes with Robins, including complaints about noise from Robins' backyard shed construction. On the day of the shooting, Dellavecchia waited for Robins to come out of his house and shot him, later shooting Kristen as well.
Dellavecchia was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, criminal attempt homicide, and aggravated assault. He was convicted in September 2012 and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. During the trial, Robins' stepdaughter Kristen Snow gave a heart-wrenching testimony about her injuries and the impact of the shooting on her life.
