In the summer of 2014, on July 31st, a 25-year-old Black male named Terrance Bird Cox, known to his loved ones as 'Bird,' was fatally shot in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred in the Nicetown neighborhood, down the street from his home, near a Chinese takeout restaurant. Police at the time described the killing as an 'execution-style' ambush. Two other individuals were also injured in the shooting.
