Joshua Lee "Josh" Poremski, a 27-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity from Brookline, formerly of Upper St. Clair, PA, tragically passed away on November 1, 2014. He was an avid outdoorsman, motorcyclist, and family man. His death was the result of an accidental shooting at his home in Upper St. Clair during a late-night gathering with family and friends.
The incident occurred when Joshua handed his gun to his cousin, Stephanie Munizza, and told her it wasn't loaded. Stephanie, who had never handled a gun before, was challenged by Joshua to pull the trigger if she felt in danger. Tragically, when she did so, the gun discharged, and a bullet fatally struck Joshua in the head.
Stephanie Munizza was charged with involuntary manslaughter. She pleaded guilty to the charge, and the court sentenced her to five years of supervised probation in her home state of Missouri. The Poremski family supported this outcome, believing that the incident was indeed an accident and did not want Stephanie to face harsher penalties.
The case highlighted the dangers of handling firearms, especially under the influence of alcohol and without proper training. Joshua's family and friends remember him fondly, and his untimely death serves as a reminder of the importance of gun safety and responsible behavior.
