Maurice D. Geter Jr., a 21-year-old African American male from Harrisburg, PA, tragically passed away on November 19, 2014, just four days after celebrating his 21st birthday. He was a recent graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School and an active member of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Maurice was well-known for his athletic prowess, particularly as a cornerback on the McDevitt Football Team.
On the evening of November 19, 2014, Maurice was shot and killed in an apparent robbery
attempt along the 200 block of N. 15th Street near Apricot Street in Harrisburg. He was mortally wounded with a single gunshot to the chest and was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, he did not survive. The incident occurred just before 5:30 p.m., and police were quick to respond, marking evidence and questioning witnesses.
Authorities identified a potential suspect, Timir Williams, a black male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighing 175 pounds. Williams was wanted for questioning in connection with Maurice's death, and he had an active juvenile warrant. Despite efforts to locate Williams, he remained at large, and the investigation continued.
The shooting marked Harrisburg's 15th homicide of the year, and police believed that the victim and the suspect knew each other, possibly indicating that the shooting resulted from an argument or differences between them. The community was deeply affected by Maurice's death, and his family, friends, and teammates mourned the loss of a young man with a promising future.
