In the cold of a Homewood day, 53-year-old Thomas McClellan of East Liberty was gunned down outside a convenience store at the corner of Frankstown and Homewood Avenues. The investigation into his death has since grown as cold as the day he was killed.
Just half an hour before the fatal shooting, McClellan's own son had driven through the very same intersection where his father's life would be tragically cut short.
Investigators learned that shortly before the shooting, McClellan had been at a nearby Quick Cash Mart. This has led police to believe that someone was either with him or saw him in the moments immediately preceding or following the incident.
Despite canvassing the neighborhood and reviewing surveillance footage from the area, the case remains unsolved. No suspects have been identified, and a motive for the killing has not been established. In an effort to generate new leads, Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers has offered a reward of up to $1,000 for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case. The investigation into the death of Thomas McClellan remains open.
