On November 15, 2015, Marlin Banks Jr., a 12-year-old African American boy from York, Pennsylvania, tragically died from a gunshot wound to the head. The incident occurred at his home on North Richland Avenue, where he accidentally shot himself while handling a handgun. Emergency personnel were called to the scene around 7:40 a.m., and Marlin was pronounced dead at York Hospital's Emergency Department at 8:12 a.m.
