Derek DeGroat, a 21-year-old male from Canaan Township, PA, tragically died on December 21, 2015. The Wayne County coroner ruled his death a homicide, but also suggested it could be considered a "suicide by cop" incident. DeGroat, who was a National Guardsman, was shot by state police at his home near Waymart after his family reported he was suicidal.
