John Thomas Carter III, a 36-year-old African American man from Harrisburg, PA, was fatally shot on March 26, 2016. He was the nephew of Harrisburg Police Chief Thomas Carter. Carter was walking home from a store when he was shot multiple times in the 200 block of Woodbine Street. He succumbed to his injuries at Penn State Hershey Medical Center later that day.
