Kennir Parr, a 14-year-old boy from Swissvale, PA, tragically died on July 4, 2016, while celebrating the Fourth of July with friends in Rankin, PA. Parr was lighting fireworks with friends in the courtyard of the Hawkins Village housing complex when he was shot in the head from a short distance away. He was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The incident occurred around 10 p.m., and approximately 30 to 40 people were present in the courtyard at the time.
