On the evening of February 25, 2019, Wilbert Barber, a 58-year-old male, was at his home on Fifth Avenue in Rankin, a community near Braddock, Pennsylvania. A knock at his back door prompted him to investigate, a simple act that would tragically be his last. As he went to answer, one or more unknown individuals fired multiple shots through the door, striking him in the torso. The gunshots shattered the evening's quiet and, in an instant, ended a life.
